If you have an ad or pop-up blocker sometimes our client software is unable to download to your system. Either allow your blocker to permit pop-ups from www.mytutor.ca or disable your pop-up blocker temporarily. This will allow our client software to download and will permit you to use our

MyTutor.ca – Online Tutoring
I am a student and I have purchased live online tutoring. What’s next?

There are two ways to get started:

1. If you have found a tutor that you would like to work with, simply register with us, then use your ID and password to log in and reserve tutoring sessions with your tutor. It’s that easy!
2. Or, if you have purchased a course that includes online tutoring, we will send you a confirmation with a proposed schedule and an attached manual. This manual includes information on system requirements and how to get started. You may also visit www.mytutor.ca/requirements.htm to see our minimum technology requirements.
3. Once you have confirmed that you have the right technology and that you are able to attend your sessions then send us an email at administration@mytutor.ca. If you cannot attend any of the proposed sessions you need to let us know what other days/times would work.
4. We’ll confirm the schedule and provide you with an ID and a password. As described in the manual, the ID and password will allow you to connect to the live online platform at Mytutor.ca.
I am a tutor, how does the registration process work?
By visiting www.mytutor.ca and clicking on “Tutor Registration” you will be guided through a three step process that will submit your application for registration. Once you have completed your application a member of the MyTutor.ca team will contact you with your registration confirmation or with more questions.
What if I forget my User ID and/or password?
We recommend you write both your user ID and password down somewhere safe. If you lose your registration information then email us at administration@mytutor.ca. We will ask you a series of qualifying questions to confirm you are you say you are – and then we will release your account information!

What happens if I cannot attend an online session?
It takes a fair amount of planning and time on our side to schedule online sessions. For your online session your teacher makes him/herself available just for you! If you cannot attend an online session we need at least 24 hours (72 hours, if there is a weekend in between) notice in order to re-schedule. If we receive your notice less than 24 hours before your session, or not at all, we cannot refund you for the lost tutoring time. So please always make sure you contact us at least 1 days (3 days, if there is a weekend in between) ahead of your meeting if you have to change your schedule.
I cannot hear/see myself online. What’s wrong?
First make sure that your camera and its software is properly installed. Refer to your camera’s user manual for installation and testing instructions.
If your camera is installed properly you can confirm that the video is working by going to www.mytutor.ca and clicking on the “Test Room & Chat Room” button. Your camera manual will instruct you on how to confirm your audio is working.
If you use any other online video technology such as MSN Chat or Yahoo then you must disable these tools before your camera will work with MyTutor.ca.
If you are still having problems then email us at administration@mytutor.ca and we will assist you.
I cannot hear/see the teacher online. What’s wrong?
Under “session info”, your teacher will be listed if he/she is connected to the session. If your teacher is not listed he/she is not in the room. Are you in the right room? Make sure you are logged in at the correct time. If your teacher was there and disappeared, try and communicate by audio only or the text message feature to solve the problem. Your audio should not be affected if it is a camera problem.
My teacher sounds funny, like in a cartoon. What happened?
The funny-sounding helium voice sometimes occurs when the system is very busy. Tell your teacher about the problem and log out of the session and log back in.
"When I use the whiteboard function in the electronic classroom I am unable to see the
entire whiteboard, why is this happening?

Check to ensure that your screen resolution (set in your computer's Control Panel under the "Display" tab) is the same as your student's/tutor's.
